The centipede, also called millipede, belongs to the Myriapoda species. Light brown, its body has three black bands all along its length. It has 15 pairs of legs which give the impression that it is longer than it really is. Measuring about 3 cm, it is not rare that this Myriapoda reach more impressive sizes. It feeds on small insects such as wood lice, flies, silverfishes, cockroaches and even other centipedes when food is scarce. The centipede invades our homes through badly-caulked windows and doors or cracks in the foundation. It is found in hot and humid rooms of the house, such as the bathroom and the basement.
